Governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley endorses Senator Marco Rubio for president.
After weeks of speculation and only days away from South Carolina’s First in the South Republican Primary, Governor Nikki Haley has endorsed Marco Rubio for president.
In January of this year, Haley was thrust into the national spotlight after delivering a pensive and thoughtful Republican response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union Address. In her statement, Governor Haley warned against following the “siren call of the angriest voices,” a phrase taken to be a veiled reference of the blustery rhetorical style of Donald Trump.
Haley’s endorsement comes after days of speculation as to whether or not the governor would choose to side with a candidate in advance of the primary. Now, with the South Carolina primary taking place this Saturday, February 20th, the endorsement is a welcome boost of courage for the Rubio campaign and will likely have a significant affect among undecided voters.
